Dignaya ( Latvian. Dignāja ) - a village in the Jekabpils region of Latvia , the administrative center of Dignaji parish . It is located on the left bank of the Daugava , 30 km from Jekabpils [1] .

History
Hillfort
In the Middle Ages, approximately on the site of the present village, there was a castle (now the ancient site of Dignaya ).
In Soviet times, the village was the center of the Dignai village council of Jekabpils district . In the village was the central estate of the Dignaya collective farm [1] . A narrow gauge railway line (now dismantled) passed through the village.
