Storage Location
As of July 2012, MediaFire features include up to 50 GB of memory (starting at 10 GB and then increasing by as much as 40 GB when various actions are performed, such as installing mobile or desktop clients or sharing on Facebook and Twitter).
In April 2014, MediaFire responded to the reduction in prices from Google Drive by increasing its professional storage plan from 100 GB to 1 TB and reducing its monthly price to $ 2.50 per month.
The business account storage is distributed among all child accounts, which allows for a single billing and managing multiple users in one company. The free MediaFire account service does not require download activity to save files and therefore is often suitable as a backup solution. MediaFire does not officially support free data storage (long-term storage for free and inactive accounts). MediaFire client currently offers downloadable mobile and desktop clients, which vary greatly in terms of capabilities and types of use.
Mobile
MediaFire originally released Android (January 2013) and iOS (July 2012) customers based on the Appcelerator platform and updated them with native versions in 2014. Mobile applications provide import of photos and videos taken on the device, and remote access to the contents of your MediaFire account.
Desktop
MediaFire desktop clients, originally launched in November 2013, are available for MacOS and Microsoft Windows, which synchronize files and folders with any MediaFire account. Additional features include file and folder sharing, notifications, screen capture and selective sync. The MediaFire desktop client software is available for the following devices: PC running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 or Mac OS X 10.7 or higher and requires at least 1 GB of RAM and 600 MB of disk space. As MediaFire reports, on May 19, MediaFire Desktop Sync will stop working on July 30, 2016, eventually being replaced by a new desktop application.
File Sharing
Support for sharing and file sharing is supported through MediaFire. Private file sharing consists of a user who provides access directly to another user or group of users and is done by importing contacts or email. The account owner is able to control read or write permissions for each user. A shared access consists of a user who receives a public link that allows anyone who has a link to download a file. Public links are always read only. MediaFire also supports the sharing of one-time links, which are valid for one use only.
In 2013, MediaFire added support for both audio and video streams through its online file viewer.
MediaFire supports many file formats through a web file viewer:
Image Files (.JPEG, .PNG, .GIF, .TIFF, .BMP) Video Files (WebM, .MPEG4, .MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .LV, .3GP, .OGG, .VOB) Text files (.TXT) Markup / code (.fCSS, .HTML, .PHP, .C, .CPP, .H, .HPP, .JS, .java, .pl) Microsoft Word (.DOC and .DOCX) Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX) Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT and .PPTX) Document Format Adobe Portable Document Format (.PDF)
