Alexander Nikolayevich Gunyashev (born December 22, 1959 , Chelyabinsk-40 ) is a Soviet weightlifter , two-time champion of the USSR (1986, 1988), European champion (1985), winner of the World Cup (1985), six-time world record holder. USSR master of sports of international class .

Biography
Alexander Gunyashev was born on December 22, 1959 in the closed city of Chelyabinsk-40 (now Ozersk ). He began weightlifting at the age of 12 under the leadership of Anatoly Dmitriev. In December 1983, he won the USSR Cup, setting in the course of these competitions world records in the breakthrough and in the amount of exercises.
In 1984 he moved to Taganrog , where he continued to train with David Riegert . In 1985 he became the champion of Europe and the silver medalist of the World Cup . In 1986 he won the title of champion of the USSR, in 1988 he repeated this success, but was not included in the USSR national team at the Olympic Games in Seoul , after which he decided to end his sports career.
