History
In 1777, near the city of Rostov-on-Don, the village of Aleksandrovka was founded, after some time Cossacks from the fortress of Dmitry Rostovsky moved to it. In the fortress, they prayed in the regimental church of Michael the Archangel .
After resettlement in 1778, the church of Mikhail Archistratig also decided to move to the village of Alexandrovskaya. In 1800, a stone bell tower was added to the temple, replacing the old wooden one. The dilapidated church itself was rebuilt. She was put on a stone foundation. September 29, 1800 the church was consecrated.
In 1896, the old church was demolished and the stone building of the temple was built. To date, this church has not survived.
In the village of Alexandrovskaya, in addition to the church of Archangel Michael, there was a wooden church in the name of the Presentation of the Lord .
At the beginning of the 20th century, the church in the name of the Presentation of the Lord dilapidated, it was decided to raise money for the construction of a new church. In 1905, parishioners applied for permission to build a new church to the project of architect Vasiliev. The church began to be built in 1907.
The new temple was built in 1911, in the same year it was consecrated. The architecture of the built church follows the traditional scheme for the Don region: the bell tower rises above the main western entrance of the church, the refectory is located between the bell tower and the main four. On the sides of the temple attached side chapels with heads on the drums.
Sretensky church was closed in the thirties, a warehouse was arranged in its premises. Since 1943, services have resumed in the church.
Currently, it is an active temple. Its dome is painted with blue paint, gilded Orthodox crosses rise above it. The side heads are also gilded.
There is a Sunday school and a youth department at the church.
