Bragun Nature Reserve

The Bragunsky State Biological Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary located in Chechnya at the confluence of Sunzha and Terek . The territory of the reserve is located at the junction of the Grozny , Gudermes and Shelkovsky regions. It was created in 1971 with the goal of preserving, restoring and reproducing valuable, rare and endangered species of animals, preserving their habitat, migration routes, nesting sites and maintaining ecological balance.

The reserve is located in the Grozny , Gudermes and Shelkovsky districts of Chechnya. The area of ​​the reserve is 17,000 hectares [1] [2] , including 10.2 thousand hectares of forest land [3] .

On the territory of the reserve are the villages of Braguny and Darbanha .

The northern border of the reserve begins three kilometers downstream of the village of Vinogradnoye along the Terek River and passes to the Chervlennaya - Uzlovaya Forest, then - along the western border of the forest to the railway crossing the canal and along the channel east to the eastern border of the forest again to the Terek River, then down along river to the eastern border of the 23rd quarter of the Gudermes forestry. The southeastern border runs from the 23rd quarter along the shaft of the Hangish-Yurt - Gudermes highway to the 25th quarter and further along the forest border to the southern side of the 15th quarter of the Gudermes forestry, then through the railway bridge on the Sunzhe River to the southern side of the 37th quarter of the Goryacheistochnensky forestry. The southwestern border runs from 3 quarters along the forest border of quarters 33, 32, 29, 27, 23, 15 and to the western side of quarter 14 of the Goryacheistochno forestry. The western border runs along the western side of the 14th quarter [1] [3] .
