Content
Story
The film takes place in the Lymehouse area of Victorian London in 1880, in which a series of brutal murders took place. Inspector Kildare, assigned to this case, seems to have succeeded in attacking the trail of a maniac signing his crimes with the Golem. But who is he really? Suspects are constantly changing from the ambitious playwright-loser John Cree to the very Karl Marx. Yes, and the young Elizabeth Cree, accused of poisoning her husband, does not give the inspector peace of mind. Trying to save her from the gallows, Inspector Kildare approaches step by step a solution, unraveling in front of the viewer a tangle of horrors and intrigues of the London backstage. Among the actors and murder suspects there are many real characters - actor Dan Leno , writer George Gissing and Karl Marx .

It was originally planned that Inspector Kildare would be played by Alan Rickman [3] , however, due to poor health, filming was postponed, and as a result of his death, Bill Nyei got this role [4] .
