Story
In the Gotham bio-lab, hematologist Ryan Pfeffer is working to find a cure for the virus that Alice Thatch's blood contains. After a hard day's work, the man goes to a bar, where Mario Calvi (Falcone) ( James Carpinello ) sits down to him, who was clearly waiting for him. Mario starts a conversation about his upcoming wedding, occasionally figuring out Pfeffer's profession, and wonders if the man is working on Alice Thatch's virus and its detection test. Mario explains his interest in the fact that his bride works in the police and was a forensic scientist in the girl’s case. Pfeffer refuses to respond to the interlocutor, citing the secrecy of information. Mario kills a man in the alley, flattening his skull, and steals his pass card into the bio-laboratory.
In the mansion Waynev Yakov (Julien Seredovich) reports to Bruce ( David Mazouz ) and Alfred ( Sean Pertwee ) that Luka Volk and his bodyguard were killed. They killed the claw - the executioner of the Court of Sov. Alfred fears that the Court learned of Bruce’s contact with the Silent Gang, and the risk of their scam is too great, but Bruce does not change his decision to cooperate with Jacob.
Meanwhile, Gotham police discover the body of hematologist Ryan Pfeffer. While examining the evidence at the crime scene, James Gordon ( Ben MacKenzie ) draws the attention of Harvey Bullock ( Donal Logue ) to the fact that the victim had a flattened skull and what strength is needed for this. Gordon expresses the version that Barnes committed the murder. Bullock disagrees with him, recalling that the former police captain is in Arkhem. Gordon notices that a pass was ripped off the victim's neck, then finds a check from the Gotham bio-laboratory in Pfeffer's wallet and goes there.
Barbara Keane ( Erin Richards ) appears at Van Dahl's estate and tells Nigme ( Cory Michael Smith ) that she came in peace, and not with the aim of avenging Tabity's injury ( Jessica Lucas ). Barbara is surprised that the guy stopped looking for Isabella's killer. Edward is convinced that the assassination is rigged by the enemies of the mayor, who see Nigma as an important political figure. Keen hints that danger is right under Nigma and that the killer is Penguin himself ( Robin Lord Taylor ), but Edward doesn’t believe her, justifying Kobblpot's lack of motive. Barbara tells the guy that Kobblepot is in love with him, thereby sowing doubts about the mayor’s innocence to Isabella’s murder.
Jacob leads Bruce, Alfred and Celine ( Camren Beacondov ) to a building owned by the Court of Sov and where the information compromising him is stored. They discuss the security and alarm systems of the building, considering options for how to get inside. Jacob reports that earlier his gang managed to break one of the windows, and that he knows the access code that opens the front door from the inside. He also says that a safe with secret information is in the room, the floor of which is protected by an alarm system in the form of an infrared network, and this room can be crossed only by a rope. The Allies decide not to hesitate with a robbery, because the Claw is already on their tail.
James Gordon comes to the Gotham bio-laboratory and tells the guard that the hematologist Ryan Pfeffer was killed. He asks the man to report if the Pfeffer pass is lit up. Having learned that they already used the pass, but so far only at the entrance, Gordon demands to call the police and rushes to the laboratory, where he finds another killed employee. Suddenly, James is stunned by Mario, and while Gordon is lying unconscious on the floor, Mario leaves a mark on his hand. By the time Gordon woke up, the police were already working in the lab. Bullock finds out that his partner did not see the attacker, and complains about the cameras, which also did not detect him. Lucius Fox ( Chris Chalk ) reports that the documents describing the experiments on Alice Thatch’s blood are gone, and draws Gordon’s attention to the word “Arkhem” written on his hand. Bullock hints at the prisoner at Barnes Hospital, but Gordon says that he has nothing to do with it. He goes to Arkham to visit Jarvis Tatch ( Benedict Samuel ) and report that a new infected has appeared in the city. During the conversation, Gordon realizes that the infected did not appear by chance, and accuses Thatch of deliberately infecting a person, demanding to tell him the name. Jarvis confesses to the deed, but does not indicate a specific person. Involved in a game with rhymed lines, started by James, Thatch accidentally says that the one that James loves will die and that the victim of infection is a doctor. Gordon instantly concludes that the killer is Mario.
Mario Calvi (Falcone) was arrested and took his blood three times for analysis, but Lucius Fox confirmed that all three samples were clean — Calvi was not infected. Gordon accuses Mario of penetrating the bio-laboratory in order to find information on how to bypass the test for infection, and promises to prove his guilt.
Meanwhile, in the mansion Van Dahl Nigma brings to the signature of Oswald Kobblepot a letter of resignation. Penguin does not want to let him go and too emotionally responds to the desire of Nigma to leave. Edward hints to a friend that after the tragedy with Isabella he would like to be Kobblepot closer than an employee, and even closer than a friend. Inspired by Oswald, he admits to romantic feelings for Edward, but Nigma pulls away from Penguin and says that his hint was misunderstood, and it was a business partnership. He is convinced of the words of Barbara Keane and understands that Kobblepot really stands behind the murder of Isabella. Nigma quickly leaves, leaving Penguin in confusion.
Gordon bursts into the house where Leslie Tompkins and Mario Calvi (Falcone) live, and finds the latter sitting in a chair with the phone in hand. Mario says that he allegedly accidentally took the phone to Lee and read the message from James. Calvey reiterates that he is not infected with the virus, James promises to prove the opposite and says that it is only a matter of time. He also tells his version of how Mario managed to become infected. Calvi assigns Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) to observe Gordon, but after a while Zsasz releases him.
Nigma imagines how to personally kill Kobblpot at a public event, but can not bring himself to do it in reality. Penguin offers Edward to pretend like nothing, and return their relationship back to normal, and Nigma, it would seem, agrees.
Gordon breaks into the church and finds Lee Tompkins in the final preparations for the wedding ceremony. James asks her not to marry Mario. Lee is outraged that the police arrested Mario on their wedding day and forced her to take as many as three blood samples, which eventually turned out to be clean. Gordon is trying to convince her that Mario faked the test results. Lee realizes that James visited Jarvis Tatch at Arkham and is convinced that Tatch is manipulating him. The woman is angry at Gordon, and he finally understands what Mario wanted - to expose James to a jealous ex. He decides to take a desperate step and confesses to Lee that he still loves her, expressing everything that he has long wanted to say. Tompkins breaks down, curses Gordon, slapping him in the face, and asks Carmine Falcone to take Jim out of the church. Lee and Mario are getting married.
Meanwhile, Jacob does not come to the meeting with Bruce, because the Claw has already managed to grab him and kill him. Alfred and Bruce decide to go for it alone. Selina joins them.
Simultaneously with these events at the police station, Lucius tells Bullock that Mario could fake the test results with the help of certain medications, and this fact is enough to get a search warrant to search Calvi's apartment.
Bruce, Alfred and Selina enter the building and make their way to the vault. Selina, on a rope, crosses the room and opens a safe in which she finds the crystal figure of an owl. At this time they are attacked by the Claw, the fighting team is trying to get back to the exit. Suddenly a mysterious woman comes to the rescue, who has previously followed them. She distracts the killer, and Alfred kills him with a dagger blow to the neck. The woman takes off her hat and sunglasses, and Selina recognizes her mother, Maria ( Ivana Milicevic ), in her. Together they leave the building.
Police arrange a search at Calvey's apartment, where Lucius Fox finds medications that can be used to circumvent a virus test. Bullock reports that Lee and Mario escaped from the festival in honor of their wedding.
Nigma comes to the Sirens and decides to team up with Barbara, Tabitha ( Jessica Lucas ) and Butch ( Drew Powell ) to destroy Kobblpot and everything he loves.
Lee and Mario are in the lake house, the refuge of Carmine Falcone. To make sure that all his plans were fulfilled, Mario asked Lee if there was a part in her that had feelings for James Gordon, to which she replied that she would always value them, but made the choice in favor of Mario. The man is trying to hide his rage.
Gordon comes to Carmine Falcone, demanding to give the location of his son. It turns out that Falcone knew that something was going on with Mario, but he had no idea about the virus. Ultimately, he calls the place to Gordon, but takes from him the promise that Mario will return alive. James pulls up to the lake house and bursts into the moment when Mario, completely captured by the virus, puts his arm with a knife over Leslie. Gordon shoots a man, a knife falls from his hand into the waters of the lake. Lee looks at Gordon with shock and horror.

The episode "Mad City: Beware of the Green-Eyed Monster" received generally positive reviews from critics. The episode received a rating of 71% with an average rating of 7.0 out of 10 on the Rotten Tomatoes website [10] .
Matt Fowler of IGN gave the “good” 7.6 out of 10 episode and wrote in his verdict: “Beware the green-eyed monster” was a worthy autumn start for Gotham, focusing heavily on Jim and tortured in a love affair with Lee. Instead, divide them further apart with a gloom that resembles Gordon's spiral from last season. It is a pity that the ending of this episode was forced ” [11] .
Nick Hogan from TV Overmind gave a wonderful 5 out of 5, writing that “Gotham did it - the work turned out for me to be running for half of the season with one of his best episodes of the season so far. “Beware of the green-eyed monster” has done a masterful job not only in describing the various sides of jealousy, but also makes it so capable that seizures are different with this story ” [12] .
Sage Young from EW gave the episode a rating of “B” and declared: “Here is the wedding ending for you: When you still love the bride, it does not matter how many innocent the bridegroom killed. If you do not maintain your world forever anyway, you will come off looking like a jolt. Jim Gordon learned this lesson when he discovered the frightening truth about fiancé Lee, Mario — her seemingly noble doctor who turned away from his family’s criminal lifestyle and chose a service career instead. ” [13]
Lisa Babik from TV Fanatic gave the beautiful 5 out of 5, pointing out: “We always knew that Gotham needed a touch of women, and if Barbara has her own way, she is going to become the new Queen of the underworld Gotham.” And a lot of other crazy stuff happened in the eleventh episode of the third season. It was enough to make your head hack with fear, confusion, or a combination of both ” [14] . Winnie Mancuso from the New York Observer wrote, “So, here we see another autumn finale of Gotham come and go, and we are left with everyone in a much worse place. Let's start with Jim, who during this episode copes so hard and so it is often that the combined noise of the trombone of his actions has broken as a whole another dimension, where everyone communicates only through dark, sullen looks and squeezed chin lines [15] .
MaryAnn Slasman from TV.com wrote, “I was in austerity with this season of Gotham, because it’s difficult to watch a series showing the franchise I care about and the actors I really have to love. I know that Gotham can do better. He has done better. Perhaps, finally, pulling the whole blood of Thatch from her system, Mario and the preparation for the war of the crowd between the Penguin and his former friends, and officially taking the Court of Sov, which “Gotham” is trying to restore to the strongest of its roots ” [16] . Sydney Baxbome from Nerdist wrote, “Imagine the fall final - the right to blow things up at Gotham! ... Yes, it's safe to say that nothing will be the same when Gotham returns from its mini-winter pause” [17] .
Robert Janis Jr. of Screenrant wrote, “With one of the central relations, the show is now in grave danger, the rest of the third season, of course, will make intriguing changes to the underworld” [18] . Katie Burt from Den of Geek gave 2 of 5 and wrote, “There were such things to love about the autumn finale, but they were overshadowed by the return of the main character, which is really difficult to fall behind (Guys, Jim Gordon shoots a large number of people)” [ 19] .
