Built on the basis of the Spacebus-4000С4 space platform by the French company Thales Alenia Space , the contract with which was signed in December 2013 [3] . The starting mass of the satellite is 5735 kg, power consumption - 11 kW . The expected life of the satellite is 15 years. The device has 50 Ka-band transponders with a total bandwidth of up to 80 Gb / s , as well as 7 X-band transponders for the needs of military structures [3] [2] .
It will be located at the 75 ° west longitude orbital position [2] .
The SGDC satellite was launched in tandem with the Korean satellite Koreasat 7 , using the Arian-5 ECA launch vehicle from the launch complex ELA-3 at the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana , and the contract with the Arianespace operator was signed in December 2013 [4] .
Initially, the launch was scheduled for March 21, 2017, but was delayed due to mass strikes in French Guiana. The launch was carried out on May 4, 2017 at 21:50 UTC [5] [6] .
