Biography
Born in Starga. He started swimming at the age of 10, when the swimming club "Neptune" was opened in the city. He graduated from city school number 5. The first success came in 1965, when he won gold medals at the Open Championship of Bulgaria at distances of 400 and 1,500 meters freestyle. In 1966 he completed the qualification minimum for the European Championship .
Selected for the Olympic Games in Mexico . At the games he performed at distances of 200 meters (3rd place in the second semi-final race with a score of 2: 06.0); 400 meters freestyle (3rd place in the first semi-final race with a score of 4: 31.1) and 1,500 meters freestyle (5th place in the third semi-final race with a result of 18: 32.4), but did not go to the finals.
In 1970 he participated in the European Championship in Barcelona . In the same year, at the Universiade in Turin, he won a bronze medal at a distance of 1,500 meters freestyle.
In 1970 he began his studies at the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw and moved to the gas station club (Warsaw).
At the Olympics in Munich, he performed at two distances - 400 meters freestyle (4th place in the fourth semi-final race with a result of 4: 16.04) and 1,500 meters freestyle (4th place in the sixth semi-final race with a result of 17: 23.47), but again not in the finals hit.
After graduation, he began to work as a trainer in Wroclaw , but, having not achieved success, he returned to Neptune in 1978, where he worked in coaching positions until his death.
Died March 2, 2016. He was buried on March 5 at the Old Cemetery at Tadeusz Kosciuszko Street in Stargard.
