Laena baiorum

Laena baiorum (lat.) Is a species of the black beetles of the genus Laena from the subfamily of the hairy ( Lagriinae , Tenebrionidae ). Endemic of China. The species is named for the Bai people living in the area of ​​the discovery of the type series [1] .

Distribution

China : Yunnan , Diancang Shan (2800 m) [1] [2] .

Description

Small wingless black beetles, body length from 8.0 to 9.0 mm. It differs in dense, but fine puncture of the pronotum (in the closely related species Laena alesi it is rare and large). Pronotum is flat and sub-square. They live in the terrestrial forest layer. The species was first described in 2008 by the German coleopterologist Wolfgang Schwaller (Dr. Wolfgang Schawaller; Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde , Stuttgart , Germany ) [1] [2] .
