Laena cooteri

Laena cooteri (lat.) Is a species of the black beetles of the genus Laena from the subfamily of the fluffy ( Lagriinae , Tenebrionidae ). Endemic of China. The species is named after the coleopterologist Jon Cooter ( Hereford , UK ), one of the collectors of the type series [1] .

Distribution

China : Fujian (Emei Feng, 1555 m) and Jiangxi (Wuyi Shan Nature Reserve, Huanggan Shan, 1800–2050 m) [1] .

Description

Small wingless black beetles, body length from 4.0 to 5.2 mm. It is distinguished by the bordered margins of the pronotum (in the closely related species Laena hlavaci, it is not bordered). All hips with distinct denticles. They live in the terrestrial forest layer. The species was first described in 2008 by the German coleopterologist Wolfgang Schwaller (Dr. Wolfgang Schawaller; Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde , Stuttgart , Germany ) [1] [2] .
