Biography

Artemy Aleksandrovich Lebedinsky was born into a family of teachers Olga Ivanovna Tsvetaeva and Alexander Vasilievich Lebedinsky. In 1952 he graduated from the Gorky Conservatory (conductor of the choir, class E. N. Garkunov), in 1956 - graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory (class V. G. Sokolov).

From 1952 to 2007 he taught [1] at the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory. M.I. Glinka. In the period from 1962 to 1988, he served as dean of the performing faculty. Among about 100 of his graduates - 2 professors, 6 associate professors, 3 laureates of international competitions, laureate of the State Prize of Russia, several distinguished artists.

In 1953 he organized a city amateur choir at the conservatory, which performed works of choral classics, fragments from operas. In 1961, at the Gorky Philharmonic, he organized a youth choir chapel.

The author of a monograph on the choral work of S. V. Rakhmaninov [2] , 13 scientific and methodological works on various topics, the folklore collection “Songs of the Gorky Region”, more than 20 versions of folk songs for the choir.

Almost constantly worked as chairman or member of the jury of amateur performances of the city and the region. Professor A. A. Lebedinsky is the organizer of several city Song Festivals (up to 10 thousand people participated in the finals).

He died on April 14, 2007. He was buried at the Rumyantsevsky cemetery (village Beshentsevo, Nizhny Novgorod).

Interesting Facts

  • On the maternal side - a relative of Ivan Vladimirovich Tsvetaeva , the father of the poetess Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva .
  • A close friend of Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich . He invited Rostropovich to teach at the Gorky Conservatory, but he was refused a place for political reasons.
