Bitbird (styled as bitbird ) is an independent music label and creative company based in The Hague , the Netherlands , founded by DJ and music producer San Holo in 2014 [1] . The label is currently being run by Budi Voogt and his longtime friend and assistant, Thorvald Van den Akker, who is also a creative director and co-founder [2] . Their goal is to support good, sincere music of all directions, regardless of genres. They also believe that giving the artist the right systematic support will allow them to fully express their work. [3] They also want the bitbird to be fair and ethical. [4]

Although Bitbird is best known for releasing electronic dance music , a futures sub-genre, they have also released a wide variety of compositions from various genres, including classical music, rhythm and blues , trap , and .

History
The label was founded in mid-2014 by childhood friends Sunder Van Dyke and Torvald Van den Akker. Sander stated that one of the reasons for launching the label was “the lack of a label that could give him the creative control he craves” [5] .
On July 30, 2014, they released their first single, “First Route,” from Duskus [6] , which they redistributed on October 29, 2015 [7] .
On July 15, 2016, bitbird released its first album, entitled “Gouldian Finch” [8] with the single “Still Looking” from San Holo [9] . Still Looking was released on June 7, 2016 and topped the Hype Machine chart for original releases shortly after its release [10] .
On November 22, 2016, the label released the single “Light” by San Holo, who led the Hype Machine shortly after its release. He also made his debut on Billboard's “Hot Dance / Electronic songs” at # 38, became the track of the week December 17, 2016 [11] , before rising to # 26 next week [12] and breaking into the TOP 20 of the week December, 31st. [11] Light was the first bitbird and San Holo release on any Billboard chart . [13]
December 16, 2016 in the cultural center "Melkweg" ( Amsterdam ) the first bitbird demonstration was organized by headliners - San Holo and , which also featured BeauDamian, DROELOE and Duskus [14] .
On October 5, 2017, the bitbird team introduced the world to their second compilation, “Gouldian Finch # 2.” It included tracks of completely new artists who had not previously collaborated with the label, such as: Autolaser, Flaws, Ramzoid, etc.
On December 26, 2017, The Trip EP was released on Bitbird. On May 18, 2018, the “Lost in Thought” EP, the debut EP of Flaws, was released on Bitbird.
