Memorial "Fallen for the Motherland" - a memorial complex in the city of Azov, Rostov region. Opened on May 9, 1971. It represents two granite steles, an eternal flame.

History
During the Great Patriotic War in the south-western outskirts of the city of Azov, behind the cemetery, there was a place where people tortured in a concentration camp were buried, here they began to bury the soldiers who died in 1942 during the defense of Azov, the soldiers who died from wounds in hospital No. 3207, the fighters and the commanders of the 44th Army, who died during the liberation of Azov and Azov in 1943. Gradually, a fraternal cemetery was formed in the city. After the war, a typical monument was erected there in the form of a soldier figure with a banner in his hands.
In 1969, it was decided to reconstruct the monument to fallen soldiers and create a memorial complex on a new square. The engineers of Rostovgrazhdanproekt, G. V. Ivanov, and N. A. Khazagerova, prepared a draft memorial.
Here they decided to transfer the ashes of the soldiers from the fraternal cemetery, a mass grave appeared. The monument made a niche for capsules with the earth, taken from the battlefields during the Great Patriotic War . Land from Sevastopol, Volgograd , Novorossiysk , Rostov-on-Don, Novobataysk , Pavlo-Ochakovka, the Obukhivka village of the Azov region, from the North Caucasus, from height of 403.3 and 429.6 meters, where in 1942 they fought, was brought to Azov. Azovites L.V. Kondratiev and A.P. Kirichenko.
Memorial "Fallen for the Motherland" was opened on May 9, 1971 in the new Victory Square. It consists of two granite steles, later from four sides, bas-reliefs of warriors of 1918-1920 and 1941-1945, rifles with a sickle and a hammer were placed on them. Nearby is the eternal flame. The torch with fire was lit in the city of Novocherkassk , then it was delivered to Azov on an armored personnel carrier Lieutenant Colonel G. K. Volkov.
In 1989, a memorial plaque was installed at the Eternal Flame with texts telling that the Memorial was installed in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for their Motherland during the Great Patriotic War, soldiers of the 44th Army who died in the Azov Sea region in 1943, in memory of Red Army soldiers and Red Guards tortured to death 1918-1920 in the death camp in the city of Azov, soldiers of the 14th Inzensky revolutionary division who died in 1920 during the liberation of the city.
In 1983, the memorial was reconstructed, during which white marble on steles was replaced with slabs of red-brown granite, the bowl of the Eternal Flame was replaced with a star with a green laurel wreath. White plaster bas-reliefs were installed on the steles, in 1989, memorial plaques were installed.
