Biography
Born on November 4, 1892 in the village of Trekhsvyatskoye, Maloyaroslavsky Uyezd, Kaluga Province, in the family of a priest.
He studied at a rural school, at a theological school and seminary (which he did not graduate from), in 1913-1921 - at the mechanical faculty of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering.
In 1925, he took part in the reconstruction of the Krasny Profintern car-building plant (the city of Bezhitsa ; nowadays - the boundaries of Bryansk ).
From 1931 he worked at the Uralvagonzavod: deputy chief engineer of Uralvagonstroy, head of the experimental workshop, from 1935 to 1959 - chief designer of the head design bureau of car building. During the war - in evacuation near Barnaul, then - in Dneprodzerzhinsk.
Under his leadership, about 20 different types of wagons were created, a TsNII-KhZ-O trolley, a roller-axle unit, and an automatic coupling device. In 1940, the unified production of gondolas, covered wagons, platforms at all car building plants of the Soviet Union was mastered.
The initiator of the use of low alloy steels in rolling car manufacturing, periodic rolling profiles. He led the development of all-metal wagons and platforms with a loading capacity of 60 to 125 tons, a universal wagon with a removable roof.
The creator of the freight car building school in the Middle Urals.
He was fluent in English, German and French.
On February 7, 1959 he was appointed to the position of chief consultant in car building under the chief engineer of the plant. On June 1, 1962, he retired while continuing to work as chief consultant.
He died on July 21, 1968 in Nizhny Tagil, was buried in the Fir Mountains cemetery [1] .
