Biography

Born in the family of Mirza Muhammad Ali Khan Ala us-Saltan , one of the richest people in Iran, who held the positions of the veziri azam (prime minister) of Iran. He studied in London .

Prior to being approved as Foreign Minister, he worked as the Iranian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and America , and was an adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister. In 1943 he was appointed to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran. March 2, 1945 was removed from his post by the Shah of Iran.

In October 1949, about 20 opposition-minded Iranian public figures (lawyers, journalists, Shiite leaders) sat in the "best" in the Shah’s palace and went on a hunger strike. The reason for the best was a protest against the falsification of elections in the Mejlis. Dr. Mohammed Mosaddyk , who retired from active political activity after Rez Shah came to power, headed the people in the “best”. Oppositionists canceled the election results and formed the core of the Iranian National Front (NFI). It was not conceived as a coalition of any parties, although depending on the situation, it enjoyed the support of various opposition forces. In the re-election in February 1950, the NFI held eight representatives in the Majlis, who began to use the rostrum of the lower house of parliament to propagate the ideas of liberal-democratic transformations and the demands for limiting monarchical power. The calls of the NFI leaders to fight for the country's economic sovereignty led to an explosion of popular protests demanding the cessation of the AINC unceremoniously operating in Iran. On March 7, 1951, an active supporter of such a decision - the country's prime minister, General Ali Razmar - was killed at the entrance to the mosque by activist Fedayan-e Islam . Four days later, Hussein Ala, the former Iranian ambassador to the United States, was appointed head of government. Under pressure from anti-Western protests, on March 15, 1951, the Mejlis adopted a law on the nationalization of the AINC.

On October 11, 1955, Prime Minister Hussein Ala announced Iran’s desire to join the Baghdad Pact . The law on Iran’s accession to the pact was adopted by the Mejlis and the Senate and approved by the Shahinshah on October 23. On the eve of Hussein Al’s trip to Baghdad to participate in the constituent session of the pact, on November 16, 1955, an unsuccessful attempt was made by members of the Fedayan Islam.

Hussein Ala died in 1964 in Tehran.
