The name "Geliyoo" is stylized from the word "Geliyor" (from the tour. "Going, coming, coming."). The name refers to the famous Turkish chant of sports fans “Türkiye geliyor!” ( Turkish : Turkey is coming! ) - an analogue of the Russian chant “Russia, go ahead!”. The word is distorted in the manner of Turkish youth slang [2] . Tagline: “Yeni bir teknoloji Geliyoo, Türkiye'nin arama motoru Geliyoo” ( tour. New Geliyoo technology, Turkey’s search engine Geliyoo ).
On January 19, 2017, the search engine was launched in test mode. Currently, the service has sections with news, videos, images, a forum and an e-commerce portal with website hosting services. The search engine was developed over 10 years for 10 million Turkish liras (about $ 2.7 million) [3]. The total amount of investments in the project, including official and unofficial expenses, is 741 thousand euros [4] .
The project aroused interest among the Turkish authorities. Minister of Transport, Navigation and Communications of Turkey Ahmet Arslan believes that using the national search engine will bring great benefits to the state [5] .
“For the country this is extremely important. We will have our own search engine, our own email service, which is convenient for citizens. It is also important that all data will be stored and processed by us, and not abroad. ”
