Biography

Father - Osip Yakovlevich Kornilovich (d. In 1814) - a servant of the Mogilev customs, mother - Rozaliya Ivanovna. Brother - Mikhail Osipovich Bez-Kornilovich .

At first he was brought up in the Odessa noble guesthouse, then in the Moscow institution for columnar workers , from where on August 30, 1816 he was released as ensign in the retinue of his Imperial Majesty for the quartermaster part. In 1816, together with D.P. Buturlin, he was engaged in archival research on the problems of the military history of Peter the Great and the Patriotic War of 1812. Since 1817 - on the shooting of the space occupied by the troops of the 1st Army, Field Marshal M. B. Barclay de Tolly, and then transferred to the Guards General Staff. Since 1822 he taught statistics and geography at the school of topographers and the school of columnar leaders. Published a number of articles on the period of the first quarter of the XVIII century and the history of Russian geographical discoveries [2] .

In 1824, together with VD Sukhorukov, he published the anthology Russian Antiquity. It consisted of five articles by Kornilovich under the general title “Russian customs under Peter the Great,” and four articles by Sukhorukov, entitled “The hostel of the Don Cossacks in the 17th and 18th centuries” [3] .

He participated in the literary societies “Free Society of Lovers of Russian Literature” and “Society of Loud Laughter”. He was published in the journal Literary Leaflets by F.V. Bulgarin .

Member of the Southern Society since 1825. Arrived in St. Petersburg a few days before the uprising, participated in its preparation. Arrested at 12 a.m. on December 14, 1825 at the apartment of Staff Captain Schoenig in the General Staff Building and taken to the Winter Palace for interrogation, and from there to the main guardhouse. December 15, transferred to the Peter and Paul Fortress on guard at the Nevsky Gate.

Convicted and confirmed on July 10, 1826, sentenced to 15 years of hard labor with a settlement in Siberia forever.

He served time in the Chita prison .

In 1827, F.V. Bulgarin denounced to the Third Division that allegedly Alexander Kornilovich, conducting research in the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, transferred the contents of important government papers to the Austrian government. Kornilovich was urgently taken from Chita to St. Petersburg for interrogation. The charge of espionage has not been confirmed. Kornilovich was imprisoned in the Peter and Paul Fortress. He was allowed to write and he wrote about forty critical notes “in the highest name” about the state structure, economic management, military affairs, and the situation of the Decembrists in Chita prison. In addition, in the fortress Kornilovich wrote the historical novel “Andrei Bezymenny” - about Russian customs of the times of Peter the Great, well known to the author from previous studies. In 1832, the story was published in St. Petersburg (of course, without the name of the author) [4] .

In November 1832, Kornilovich was sent as a private to the Shirvan infantry regiment , in Tiflis , where he died on August 30, 1834 from a fever.
