Cornel, Andre Victor

Having completed his medical education in Paris in 1860 , Cornel was appointed head of the clinics in 1866 , and from 1882 he worked as professor of pathological anatomy. The main works of Cornel belong to the field of microscopic anatomy, pathology and bacteriology. From the laboratory founded by him in 1865 , together with Ranvier , a number of remarkable works of many French scientists came out. The private clinical course opened by him in 1884 at Hotel Dieu attracted many students and doctors to Cornel. So, in the period 1886-1888, the famous bacteriologist Fernan Vidal worked in the Cornel laboratory.

Cornel has been president of the anatomical society since 1883 . From 1876 to 1882 he was a deputy, and in 1885 he was elected senator.
