The set of monuments of history and culture of Belarus

"The Code of Monuments of History and Culture of Belarus" ( Belor. "Pick-up of Communities and Cultures of Belarus" ) is a multivolume reference book. Awarded the 1990 State Prize of the BSSR.

It was published in 1984–1988 in Minsk in the Belarusian language in 7 volumes (8 books) as part of the All-Union multi-volume edition “The Code of Monuments of the History and Culture of the Peoples of the USSR”. Prepared by the Sector of the Code of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Belarus of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus , the Department of Archeology of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the publishing house Belarusian Encyclopedia named after Petrus Brovka. In 1990 , an updated and revised volume of the “Code ...” about the Brest region was published in Russian .

Includes more than 14 thousand articles on immovable monuments (history, archeology, architecture, monumental and monumental-decorative art), which survived from antiquity to the middle of the XIX century. most characteristic of the second half of the XIX - early XX century. , the pre-war Soviet period ( 1917 - 1941 ), the best architectural structures of the post-war period ( 1950 - 1980s ) and which are or should be under the protection of the state.

Each volume is dedicated to a specific area . The volume dedicated to the Minsk region was published in two books, and a separate volume is comprised of the monuments of the city of Minsk . The materials in the volumes are arranged by districts (in alphabetical order of their names); Each volume has a nominal, geographical and chronological pointers. As an independent territorial unit, the regional center is allocated, information about which is placed at the beginning of the volume. Inside the district, the first materials are placed on the administrative center, then on the monuments of other settlements (in alphabetical order). Articles about the monuments of one locality are submitted in alphabetical order of their names. There are a total of 457.6 books and publications, 131 maps , 6817 illustrations , of which 1,420 are color.
