Tournament Qualification
7 male and 7 female teams took part in the men's and women's Cups. The winners of the men's and women's championships of Canada 2014 (respectively, the teams of skips Kevin Cui and Rachel Homan ) were automatically qualified for the Cup. Also, the winners of the previous Canada Cup 2012 received automatic qualification (respectively, the team of skips Jeff Stoughton and Stephanie Lawton , which was replaced by Sherry Anderson as skip). The participants also included teams representing Canada as its national teams at the 2014 Winter Olympics and each becoming its champion - the teams of Brad Jacobs and Jennifer Jones . The remaining 4 places in each of the draws were filled by the teams that occupy, if not taking into account the above teams, according to the results of the 2013-2014 season, the four best places in the Canadian team ranking system [1] [2] [3] .
Competition Format
At the first, group stage, the teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The three best teams in the group stage go to the second stage, playoffs , where they play according to the Olympic system : the team that took 1st place goes directly to the final, the teams that took 2nd and 3rd place in the group play in the semifinals for reaching the final.
Matches start time is given in UTC − 7 . [four]
