Geography

The village is located on the banks of the Nerl River (a tributary of Klyazma ), 8 km north of the city of Suzdal .

History

In the first quarter of the 15th century, the village belonged to Princess Mary, wife of Nizhny Novgorod Prince Daniil Borisovich . At the death of her husband, Princess Mary accepted a monasticism with the name Marina and refused to give the estate of Omutskovo to the Suzdal Savior-Euthymius Monastery . In 1490, Grand Duke Ivan Ivanovich from his palace Lopatnitsky patrimony granted the monastery two meadows along the Podoksa River and the Nerl River adjacent to the village of Omutsky and which were the subject of a dispute between the monastery and the peasants of the village of Lopatnits . In 1498, according to a letter from the Grand Duke Ivan Vasilievich, land was demarcated at Omutsky, which belonged to the Savior-Euthymius Monastery and Prince Boris Godunov . Omutskovo belonged to the indicated monastery until the monastic estates were taken to the treasury in 1764. The stone church existing in the village with the stone bell tower was built in 1755 by the zeal of the parishioners. There are three thrones in the church: in the cold - in the name of St. Ephraim the Syrian , in the warm refectory - in the name of Simeon the Pillar and the holy and miraculous Nicholas. In 1896, the parish consisted of one village, in which 122 yards, 353 male showers, 382 female showers. Since 1886, a parish school existed in the village [2] .

In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village was part of the Yanevsky volost of the Suzdal district .

Since 1929, the village was part of the Vesky Village Council of the Suzdal District , since 1965 - the Romanov Village Council.
