Jan Kudlichka ( czech Jan Kudlička ; born April 29, 1988 , Opava , Moravian-Silesian region , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech track and field athlete specializing in pole vaulting . Bronze medalist at the World Indoor Championships ( 2014 ). Winner of the European Championships. Multiple champion of the Czech Republic. Finalist of the Summer Olympic Games 2008 , 2012 and 2016 .

Biography
He started his career with all-around, but soon it became clear that the best with Jan is a pole vault. In this discipline, he spoke at the Junior World Championships in 2005 , where he took 6th place.
In 2008, he began training with Boleslaw Paters in Prague and immediately made serious progress [1] . At the age of 20, Kudlichka fulfilled the required standard and was selected for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where he made his way to the final and took ninth place. At the beginning of the next season, he broke the pole and injured his arm, due to which the growth of results slowed down a bit.
In the future, the counted number of times did not overcome the qualifications at the main competitions of the season. He played in the finals at three world championships (the best result - 7th place in 2013 ). At the Olympic Games in London, ranked seventh.
In 2014, he won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships (for the first time in his career he took 5.80 meters high) and the European Championships .
In the winter of 2016, he finished in fourth place at the World Indoor Championships . In the summer, he set a new national record, breaking the bar at a height of 5.83 m at competitions in Prague [2] . Under adverse weather conditions, won the silver at the European Championships , letting forward only Pole Robert I will collect .
On the third in the career of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he stopped a step away from the podium, finishing fourth with a score of 5.75 m.
