Division History and Combat Path

The 258th Mixed Aviation Division was formed by the reorganization on February 27, 1943 of the 258th Fighter Aviation Division on the basis of the Order of Non-Commercial Organizations No. 0045 of February 19, 1943. The division also included one assault and one bomber regiment. After the reorganization, the division continued military operations along the Defense of the Arctic with 4 regiments in the Petrozavodsk and Medvezhyegorsk directions [1] .

As part of the division of the army was from February 27, 1943 to August 24, 1943 [2] .

On August 24, 1943, the 258th Mixed Aviation Svir Division was reorganized into the 1st Guards Mixed Aviation Svir Division as part of the 7th Air Army of the Karelian Front for the exemplary fulfillment of command assignments, courage and heroism of personnel.
