The village is located southwest of the district center of the city of Suzdal .

History

Church of St. Michael the Archangel. 2018 year

There is the following legend about the beginning of the church and the village: “the clergy of the clergy, enmity against Bishop John for often punishing them for their reprehensible deeds, persuaded the First Deacon Elepheri so that he would publicize everywhere that the bishop leads a life incongruous with his dignity; Eleferius agreed. The thin rumor about John immediately spread throughout the city. Suzdal citizens were indignant against their archpastor: they came to the bishop's house and drove John out of the city with dishonor and reproach. The saint was silent and endured everything generously, left the city, persecuted by the clergymen and the crowd of people. Having departed a mile and a half from the city, the saint, turning to the east, knelt down and said: “Lord, my God! I became a disgrace to the world, an angel and a man. But you know my innocence ... God forgive them (pointing a finger at the clergy of the clergy), and do not put this in sin. ” As soon as John finished his prayer, immediately the judgment of God over his enemies was revealed: they were blinded. Seeing such an execution of God, the citizens of Suzdal fell to the ground and with tears asked the saint for forgiveness and blessing. The saint forgave them and blessed. Then he prayed for his enemies, and the Lord forgave those: they then received sight and made a vow to correct their life. ” Since this event happened on September 6, on the day of the remembrance of the miracle that was in Koneh from the Archangel Michael, the citizens, by the sanction of the saint, built a wooden church in memory of the miracle Archangel Michael, in the place where a new miracle took place: the blinding and enlightenment of the enemies of John , naming the village itself, subsequently formed, in the name of St. John of Ivan, and giving it to the patrimony of the Bishop's House. The estate of the Bishop’s house Ivan remained until 1764. Sylvester, Metropolitan of Suzdal (1755-60), built a stone church in the Ivansky village, in place of a wooden one, with an aisle on the right side - in the name of Saints John and Fyodor, Suzdal miracle workers. The belfry is stone with it, an old bell hangs on it. In 1896, the parish consisted of one village, in which there were 76 households, 189 males and 223 females [2] .

In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village was part of the Gorodishchevsky volost of the Suzdal district .

Since 1929, the village was part of the Seletsky village council of the Suzdal region .
