Description
Small ants, body length about 5 mm (from 5.5 to 6.4 mm) in black. The upper part of the breast is convex with distinct edges and long, stiff hairs. A pair of spines developed on pronotum and on propodeum . Four long bent back spines on the top of a scale-like petiole. The width of the workers' head (HW) is 1.22-1.41 mm, the length of the head (HL) is 1.27-1.52 mm, and the length of the antennae (SL) is 1.40-1.59 mm. Nest and forage in the trees. Anthills are made of silk and plant particles between a pair of leaves [1] [2] .
The species was first described in 1910 by the Swiss myrmecologist Felix Sanchi ( Felix Santschi , 1872–1940) using typical materials from Brazzaville ( French Equatorial Africa ) [3] [4] . The species belongs to the subgene Myrma and the group of species Polyrhachis (Myrma) monista species-group, which differs by a distinct methanotal suture in the form of a V- or U-shaped groove (profile view). It differs from a similar species of P. spitteleri in a wide and deep promesonotal suture [1] [2] [5] .
