The people nicknamed Korhonen “Vihta Paavo” by the name of Lake Vihtajärvi , on the banks of which he lived. Korhonen led the life of a hunter and sang his songs in taverns of Kuopioskaya and other provinces. His poems were collected by Elias Lönnrot in the collection Paavo Korhonens 50 sånger och 6 visor, published in Helsingfors in 1848 [1] [2] and reprinted in 1908.
