Prior to taking office, he served as Under Secretary of Health at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2015 to 2017.
On January 11, 2017, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Shulkin to the post of Minister for Veterans Affairs [1] . On February 13, he was unanimously approved by the Senate in this post.
On March 28, 2018, Trump announced Shulkin’s resignation and proposed President Ronnie Jackson’s personal physician for approval as his successor [2] .
