Landezen, Eduard Fedorovich

Eduard Fedorovich von Landesen ( June 27 ( July 9 ) 1837 - August 8 ( 21 ), 1906 ) - doctor of medicine, pediatrician, public figure.

Biography

He was born in the city of Pernov, Livljansk province (now Pärnu , Estonia) into a hereditary noble family of a district doctor, court counselor and gentleman, Dr. Friedrich Gottlieb von-Landesen and his wife Maria Johanna nee Kluver. The family also had four more daughters.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Dorpat in 1863 and continued his studies at the University of Berlin . Since 1867 - corresponding member of the Minsk Society of Doctors. In 1867, he began to work as a doctor at the Christmas manufactory of the merchant Kaulin [1] . Soon he married the daughter of Lieutenant Turgenev, Sofya Petrovna (1846-1915) [2] .

At the same time as working at the Kaulin factory, he was invited by a doctor to a male gymnasium and, somewhat later, to the Mariinsky female gymnasium, as well as to the hospital of the Tver Theological Seminary . In 1873 he began to work as a doctor in the Tver section of the Nikolaev railway. In addition, in 1875-1881 he was a freelance doctor at the Tver Post Office.

On the initiative of E. F. Landesen, a hospital and a cholera hut were built at the Christmas Factory; at the railway station, he organized a reception room for five beds. He developed a project for a obstetric institution and a school with him for training midwives. In 1871 he was elected an honorary member of the Tver Provincial Guardianship of orphanages; In 1877-1898 he was the director of the Tver Children's Shelter. In 1895, when the shelter turned 50 years old, he was awarded the Empress Maria Fedorovna a gold ring with diamonds, and in 1898 he was appointed trustee of orphanages at the Main Committee for the collection of donations in favor of shelters.

For many years, Landezen was the vowel of the Tver City Council (1879-1893 and 1897-1906), and since 1889 - the vowel of the Tver Uyezd Zemstvo Assembly. In 1881 he was reckoned "... to his own Imperial Majesty the Chancellery for the Institutions of the Empress Maria Feodorovna with the abandonment of his former posts and ranks."

E. F. Landezen was awarded the orders of St. Stanislav 1st century, St. Anne 2nd century, St. Vladimir 4th century

He had five children. Of these, fame gained: Fedor Eduardovich (1871-1920) - the organizer of professional fire education in Russia; Eduard Eduardovich (1872-1928) - doctor; Maria Eduardovna (1874-1948) - singer Mary Lanskaya, organizer of the Tver Opera Studio, which was visited by Alexey Ivanov [3]

The spouses of Landezen were among the founders in 1868, and then permanent members of the Charitable Kopek charity. Von Landezen has long been a member of the guardianship of the institutions (canteen, overnight shelter and the House of industriousness) of this society. His wife, Sofya Petrovna, sang at charity concerts. Landezen was a member of the society for supporting men’s gymnasium and the real school, the board of trustees of the Mariinsky girls’ gymnasium; in the female gymnasium he was awarded a scholarship named after his father - Fyodor Ivanovich (Friedrich Gottlieb) von Landesen. Also E.F. Landezen was a member of the Tver society of lovers of archeology, history and natural science.

He died in Tver on the night of August 9, 1906 from a brain hemorrhage. He was buried in a German cemetery, liquidated in the 1960s. In 1906, the street where he lived was named Landesenskaya (now Zhigarev Street).
