History
The station first opened for passengers on November 20, 1889. Then it was called "Omama" ( Japanese. 大 間 々 駅 ) . On March 1, 1911, the station was renamed Iwajuku. She still carries this name. The new station building was built in March 1936. On April 1, 1987, the station was included in the JR East network, shortly after the privatization of the Japan National Railways.

Ivadzuku station consists of a one-way platform and a central (island) platform connected by an overpass.
