Geography
The village is located 2 km south from the center of the village of Novlyanka and 11 km south from the district center of the working village of Krasnaya Gorbatka , the 32 km railway platform on the Kovrov - Murom line .
History
The first information about Shulgin dates back to 1676, in the salary books it was noted that in Shulgin there was a church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos, at the church there was a courtyard of the priest Spiridon, a court of clerks, 3 courtyards of landowners and 20 courtyards of peasants. This wooden church existed in Shulgin throughout the eighteenth century, at the beginning of the nineteenth century it was demolished for disrepair, and instead of it, at the expense of the landowner Muromtsev, a stone church with a bell tower was built. The throne in the temple was one in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At the end of the 19th century, the parish consisted of the village of Shulgin and villages: Bolshoi Koltsov, Maly Koltsov, Elkhov, in which, according to the clearing lists, there were 164 yards, 474 men and 538 women. In Shulgin since 1884 there was a parish school, there were 50 students in 1896 [2] .
In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village was part of the Dubrovsky volost of Murom county .
Since 1929, the village was the center of the Shulginsky village council of the Selivanovsky district , and later until 2005, it was part of the Novlyansky village council .

In the village is the inactive Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1825–1875) [7] .
