Biography
One of the Kafkaztsians known in the military history of Persia under the name of Yusuf Khan, Sepahsalar Aragistan, who has reached the highest command posts in the Persian army and the ruler of the province of Aragistan. Having been captured by the Persians, he agreed to the offer of the Aga-Magomed Khan to go to serve in the Shah's artillery. He, under the name Yusuf Khan Topchi-Bashi, took part in many Persian wars with neighbors, including during the Russo-Persian war of 1804-1813. Under his leadership, with the help of European instructors, the production of modern artillery pieces was first established in Persia. In 1813, Yusuf Khan, known in Persia under the name Amir-tophan, was promoted to sergengi (colonel) for the difference in battles against the Russians and was appointed commander of the Bahaduran regiment. Under the command of Yusuf Khan, the regiments of Bahaduran and the Yeni-Muslims distinguished themselves in battles during the Turkish-Persian war of 1821 - 1823. After the Turkish-Persian war, Yusuf Khan appointed Samson Makintsev major in his regiment, and in 1826, due to the fact that Yusuf Khan took command of the Persian artillery in the war with the Russians, Samson Makintsev became the commander of the Bahaduran regiment.
