The Vice-President of Venezuela , officially the Executive Vice-President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ( Ex. Vicepresidente Ejecutivo de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela ) is the second largest public office of Venezuela. In accordance with the current Constitution, he is appointed exclusively by the head of state and is directly subordinate to him. It was first established in 1830 and abolished with the adoption of a new constitution in 1858. Restored in 1999 by the socialist government of Hugo Chávez .

The current vice-president of Venezuela is the socialist Delsy Rodriguez (from June 14, 2018), appointed to this position by President Nicolas Maduro .

Powers
The Executive Vice President is appointed and dismissed by the head of state, the President. Also, the vice-president can be removed by a decision of the National Assembly in case the decision on suspension is supported by more than two thirds of the deputies. If the National Assembly dismisses the vice-president three times in a row within six years of a presidential term, the president has the right to dissolve parliament.
The Vice-President is the first of the possible successors to the post of President, in case the head of state cannot fulfill his official duties. In this case, the vice-president becomes Acting Head of State in accordance with Articles 233 and 234 of the current Venezuelan Constitution.
