Biography

Born in the family of a famous Viennese violin master, Austrian. He received his musical education at the Vienna Conservatory in singing. Concerted in Germany and England.

Since 1861 in St. Petersburg, he managed the Tyrolean choir in various entertainment venues, the owner of the operetta theater in St. Petersburg.

He acted as a guitarist. He taught guitar lessons, taught guitar playing at the St. Petersburg Society of Guitarists and Mandolinists, among his students the famous guitarist Vasily Lebedev . Known as the author of several guitar books.

The author of the operetta: “Hadji Murad”, “Don Quixote”, “The Secret of Correchidore”, “Cavalry Maiden”, “Frina”, “Young Lady Peasant”, “Prank of the Jester”, etc., several popular romances, marches, dances and songs, as well as compositions and arrangements for 6- and 7-string guitars (fantasies, duets, variations, etc.)
