Bashir Ibn Sad

Bashir ibn Sa'd ( Arabic: بشير بن سعد ; d. 633) is an associate of the Prophet Muhammad . Member of the second oath at Aqaba and many military campaigns of Muslims against polytheists.

Biography

Bashir lived in Medina , descended from the Khazraj tribe . He was one of the few who could write. Bashir was a member of the second oath at Aqaba. He was the father of an-Nu'man ibn Bashir [1] .

After the Meccan Muslims moved to Medina, he took part in all subsequent battles of Muslims against polytheists. Twice he waged a campaign against Banu Murra in Fadak (December 629) and against the strength of the Gatafan tribe, which was about to attack Medina. The first expedition ended in complete failure. Bashir himself fought bravely, but was wounded. He was left to die, but at night he managed to get to Fadak, where he was sheltered by a local Jew and a few days later Bashir returned to Medina. The second expedition, in which about 300 Muslims participated, was more successful. The enemy was dispersed and left a large number of trophies . In the same year, when the Prophet visited Mecca for a pilgrimage in accordance with the agreement of the previous year on Hudaibiye . Bashir commanded an armed detachment that accompanied the pilgrims, but did not enter the Forbidden Territory [1] .

After the Prophet’s death, Bashir supported the Quraysh during the election of the Caliph . He was the first or one of the first to swear to Abu Bakr . He later joined the campaign in Iraq and was present at the capture of Khalid ibn al-Walid al-Khira. He died in Ain at-Tamr in 633 . It is not known whether he was killed or died from a wound received shortly before his death [1] .
