Brockman "Brock" Adams ( born Brockman "Brock" Adams ; born January 13, 1927 , Atlanta , Georgia - d. September 10, 2004 , Stevensville, Maryland ) - American politician. He represented Washington in both houses of the US Congress , first in the House of Representatives from 1965 to 1977 , and then in the Senate from 1987 to 1993 . US Secretary of Transportation under President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1979 .

Adams served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 . In 1949, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington and a law degree in 1952 from the Harvard Law School . He then began his career as a lawyer in Seattle .
In 1992, eight women accused him of sexual harassment in the Seattle Times , one of whom even spoke of rape in a newspaper article. Adams pleaded not guilty, but decided not to run for re-election to the Senate.
