The World's 50 Best Restaurants ( 50 best restaurants in the world ) - rating of restaurants according to the authoritative magazine based on a survey of chefs, restaurateurs , gourmets and restaurant critics around the world. In addition to the main rating, a rating of chefs is compiled, which is based on the votes of the chefs of the fifty best restaurants based on last yearβs rating. Most of the winning restaurants serve gourmet cuisine , often the top rating restaurants specialize in molecular gastronomy .
The absolute winners of the past were the restaurants and Noma . ElBulli won the rating five times in 2002 and 2006-2009, this result has not yet been surpassed [1] . Restaurant βNomaβ took the top line four times in 2010-2012 and in 2014. After the third victory in the rating in 2012 [2] , according to chef Rene Redzepi, there were 1,204 clients on the waiting list for the evening, and two years earlier there were only 14 clients on the list [3] . Winning the ranking, sometimes called the βCulinary Oscarβ [4] , is as prestigious as getting a star in the Michelin Red Guide [5] .

Methodology
The World's 50 Best Restaurants is formed by the voices of βThe Diners Club World's 50 Best Restaurants Academyβ - a group of 27 panels formed specifically for this rating [6] . The whole world is divided into 27 regions, in each region a chairman is appointed, recognized as the best connoisseur of restaurants in his region [7] . Each chairman in his region forms a group of 35 experts. Members of these groups make up the general jury.
A preliminary list of nominations is not compiled. Each member of the international jury represents votes for any seven restaurants of their personal choice. To ensure representation of different regions, judges are invited to vote for three restaurants from their region and four from other places. A jury member is not entitled to vote for his restaurant, as well as for an institution in which he has an economic interest. It is necessary to choose among the restaurants in which the jury member has eaten during the last 18 months, although it is impossible to verify compliance with this rule.
The criteria are different from those used in the Michelin Red Guide or other restaurant reviews. This circumstance has enabled restaurants of traditional or molecular cuisine such as , and , successfully compete with gourmet restaurants such as , or .
The rating has been repeatedly criticized. Matthew Fort ( Eng. Matthew Fort ) in The Guardian in 2003 called the method quackery [8] French restaurant reviewer and critic FranΓ§ois-RΓ©gis Gaudry ( French FranΓ§ois-RΓ©gis Gaudry ) considers the rating is not reliable [9] , and the Spanish chef Martin Berasategui ( Spanish MartΓn Berasategui ) even accused the rating of falsifying and using the mark of a reputable international organization solely to harm the Michelin Guide [10] .
