Biography

He was engaged in cycling as a child, but after having had an accident at age 15, he switched to running. He began to compete in 2002. He won his first race in his career, despite running shoes that were three sizes smaller and bloody corns obtained at a distance ^[1] .

In 2004, he played for the Eritrean national team at the World Cross-country Championship , where he took 58th place in the junior race. A few years later, when the real date of Tadessa’s birth was revealed, it turned out that at that time he was 21 years old (with a limit of 19 years), so the result was canceled. At the end of the championship, he never returned to his homeland, deciding to try his luck in Switzerland , where he stayed in the city of Uster .

Due to the complicated procedure for obtaining Swiss citizenship, for a long time I participated only in commercial runs. He won half marathons in Geneva , Uster and Barcelona , a marathon in Zurich , was in the top ten at the Berlin marathon , a marathon in Daegu and Toronto.

10 years after arriving in Switzerland, in April 2014, received citizenship of this country. By that time, he was already married to a Swiss and raised a son. In the debut start for his new team, he took ninth place in the home European Championship in marathon.

At the 2015 World Cup, he became 19th in the marathon.

In 2016, he set a new country record at the Seoul Marathon - 2: 06.40 ^[2] . In the summer at the European Championship in half marathon, Tadessa from the very beginning of the race was among the leaders along with Kaan Ozbilen from Turkey and Evans Kiplagat from Azerbaijan. Before the finish, he took a jerk, which brought him a gold medal and helped the Swiss team win the team championship.

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he took 7th place in the marathon, the best among European runners.
