Saratov Library College

The college was organized in 1934 on the basis of the library department of the Saratov Pedagogical College ^[1] , which since 1924 trained the library workers of the Volga region ^[2] . The director was appointed Nadezhda Nikolaevna Fedorova. A note on the opening of the technical school was placed in the newspaper Pravda of the Saratov Territory on August 9, 1934. A large role in the organization of the college was provided by N.K. Krupskaya - the head of the educational department Savely Savelievich Semenov repeatedly met with her on the organization of training ^[3] .

The technical school trained the library staff of secondary qualifications.

The teaching staff was staffed by 14 teachers. The first student enrollment was 150 people.

Classes were held in the evening shift from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the premises of the pedagogical college located at 20 Radishcheva Street , two dormitories for 78 people were transferred ^[3] .

During the Great Patriotic War, many teachers and students volunteered for the front, and the Saratov evacuation hospital N3630, specializing in injuries of the organs of vision, where students read books, newspapers, and bulletins of the Soviet Information Bureau, took patronage. College students took part in the work of MP Kutanin to create a new form of mental adaptation of patients - bibliotherapy .

After the war, the technical school is located in a new building in house No. 129 on Bolshaya Gornaya Street, the number of students is increasing ^[3] .

In 1959, cultural schools were created on the basis of technical schools throughout the country, consisting of two departments - library and club. The Saratov College was reorganized into the Saratov Cultural and Educational School (since 1962 - into the Saratov Regional Cultural and Educational School) ^[3] . Currently, the successor of the Saratov Library College is the Department of Social and Cultural Activities and Folk Art of the Saratov Regional College of Arts.
