DistributionWorldwide [1] [2] . Seven fossil species are described, the oldest finds of the family come from Taimyr and New Jersey amber (Upper Cretaceous ) [3] .
DescriptionLarvae live in houses built by them (tubes) made of silk threads and grains of sand at the bottom of reservoirs with a fast and clean watercourse. The larvae of Pseudoneureclipsinae have a different morphology and ecology that distinguishes them from typical Dipseudopsidae (Flint 1964, Tachet et al. 2001) [1] . The eyes of adults are large, there are no ocelli. The mandibular palps consist of 5 segments, the apical segment is short. The number of spurs on the front, middle and hind legs of adults is 3, 4 and 4, respectively [4] .
Systematics3 subfamilies and 8 genera [1] [5] . It was first established as a subfamily as part of Hydropsychidae , then it was interpreted as Dipseudopsinae as part of Polycentropodidae or in Psychomyiidae . Monophilia of the group was established in 1994 (Weaver & Malicky, 1994) [6] , and the status of the family was proposed in 1967 (Ross 1967) [7] .
