Larry Lance First appears as a love interest for Dina Drake (the alter ego of the Black Canary) and a peculiar male version of the "lady in trouble", as well as a valuable ally and partner of the Black Canary. Later, Larry and Dina got married and they had a daughter ^[1] .

In Justice League of America # 73 (August 1969), Larry is given more attention as he watches over Starmen, wounded in a battle with the villain Aquarius. In Justice League of America # 74, Larry sacrifices himself to save his wife from a clot of cosmic energy sent to her by Aquarius. After her husband’s funeral, the Black Canary and her daughter pass through the portal between to Earth-1, since on Earth-2 too much reminds her of her dead husband ^[2] .

Feeling lonely, the Black Canary finds Lance's Earth-1 larry, but he turns out to be a Collector , an intermediary in communicating with the people of Gotham.
