Verkhne-Gnilovskoe cemetery is located in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don . Its territory is bounded by three streets - Portovaya, Kulagina and Mezhdunarodnaya. The total area is 4.5 hectares . [2]
Burials at the cemetery are made c XIX century . It was valid until 1972, when the Northern Cemetery was opened. Many years of burial on it were banned. In 1998, when the situation with new places became aggravated at the Northern cemetery, the burial cemetery in the family graves was resumed at the Verkhne-Gnilovsky cemetery.
During the war in this cemetery the soldiers who fell during the liberation of Rostov were buried in mass graves, a memorial was created in their memory. A memorial to the pilots who died in the crash of the Mi-6 helicopter in 1969 was also created on the main avenue. [3]

On the Verkhne-Gnilovsky cemetery, a sailor (driver) from the Aurora cruiser V. S. Shcherbakov (1891-1967) was buried. [four]
