Double agent

A double agent (double agent) is an agent collaborating simultaneously with the special services of the two warring states.

The nature of the relationship of a double agent with special services may be different. A double agent can act only in the interests of one intelligence agency and mislead the other, hiding from it the connection with the first intelligence agency and creating the appearance of honest cooperation, or it may not hide its connection with another intelligence agency and at the same time supply both intelligence agencies with information about each other that interests them .

Double agents can be divided into several types :

• "Merchant" - delivers information to one party in exchange for receiving information from it about the other side
• “Sent Cossack” - a person who is not a personnel officer of the special service, who, on the instructions of this special service, offers his services to the enemy or “allows” himself to “recruit”
• “ Mole ” - a special services personnel secretly working for the enemy’s special services
• "Pseudo-Crotch" is a special services personnel who, on the instructions of this special service, offers his services to the enemy or "allows" himself to "recruit"
• “Changeling” - an agent who, for one reason or another, agreed to cooperate with the enemy’s intelligence service (most often after exposing it to avoid punishment)
