Biography

He represented the sports society "Trud" and the city of Ulyanovsk . Pupil of the trainer Nazim Mukhitov [1] .

Silver medalist of the USSR skiing championship in 1974 , held as part of the III Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR . He won his medal in the relay as part of the RSFSR national team.

In 1975 he moved to biathlon. At the USSR Biathlon Championship in 1975, he won gold medals - as a member of the Trud team, he won the patrol race on April 16, 1975 in Murmansk for the first time in the history of the USSR championships (after a long break and under the new rules). At the next championship of the USSR, in 1976, he became the bronze medalist of the sprint race, losing to Alexander Tikhonov and Anatoly Alyabyev .

He was part of the expanded national team of the USSR, took part in international competitions. According to the memoirs of the national team coach Alexander Privalov , he was strong in skiing, but did not differ in stable shooting [2] .
