General Information
Gower studied with Edward von Gebhardt and Karl von Marr at the Munich Academy of Arts . He later trained in Italy . Finally decided on a place of residence and creativity, moving to Dusseldorf. Here Gower became a member of the Malkasten Society of Artists, and after the end of World War II he was elected chairman of the Düsseldorf Union of Artists ( Verein der Düsseldorfer Künstler ).
Gower painted and stained glass and mosaics for several churches, including the St. Lutwinus Church in Metlach and the St. Antonius Church in Düsseldorf Friedrichstadt . For the church of the Heart of the Lord ( Herz-Jesu-Kirche ) in Aachen, the artist created a large mosaic panel in 1914, and later, in 1921-1922, for the memorial chapel of the victims of wars, depicting the Way of the Cross of Jesus Christ .
Last years he lived in Dusseldorf at the address Am Binnenwasser 3 . In 1982, his house was included in the list of legally protected architectural monuments of Dusseldorf under No. 1.

1952: Order of Merit for the Federal Republic of Germany (Commander’s Cross).
