Biography
Born on August 31, 1937.
In 1959 - graduated from Moscow State University.
Since 1976 - Head of the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University.
In 1991 - elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Scientific and social activities
Specialist in the biophysics of photosynthesis, membrane biophysics, kinetics and thermodynamics of electron transport processes.
He developed fundamental physical concepts of the structural-functional and dynamic organization of electron-transport chains in photosynthetic cell membranes of organisms of various systematic groups, as well as the theory and kinetic models of elementary processes in photobiological and model systems. Developed for practical use of new highly sensitive optical rapid methods for diagnosing the resistance of biological membranes of plant organisms to various external influences.
Developed and reads a course of lectures on biophysics for students of the faculty, a number of special courses for students and post-graduate students of biophysicists.
Under his leadership, defended 43 candidate and 19 doctoral theses.
Prepared for the second edition and published a two-volume textbook (74 p. L.) "Biophysics" (1 t. - 1999, 2 t. - 2000), carried out the second edition of the "Course of lectures on biophysics" (1998).
Author of more than 500 articles, 9 copyright certificates for inventions.
Participation in scientific organizations:

- Member of the Administrative Council of the International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB);
- Member of the Commission on Biological Physics of the International Union of Fundamental and Applied Physics (IUPAP);
