Carpathian fold region

The Carpathian folded region is the northeastern branch of the Alpine geosynclinal region of Europe in the form of an arched system of folded mountains ( Carpathians ).

The region is divided into a number of large structures, delimited by canopies: the Pre-Carpathian forward deflection, the External (Flysch) Carpathians, the Inner Carpathians, the Transcarpathian rear deflection and the Pannonian Depression (Great Hungarian Lowland), which does not belong to the Carpathians proper. The Pre-Carpathian trough adjoins the southwestern outskirts of the East European platform , filled with Neogene molosses, and is divided into outer, central, and inner zones. The inner and central zones have a complex structure of scale-like dislocations; are large bedspreads, covering 15-20 km. the outer zone, which was created at the end of the Neogene and has a stepped foundation. The Outer Carpathians are composed of Cretaceous and Paleogene flyschs (4–5 km thick); they are a system of linear, torn to pieces, nasal need folds (skib), deployed and lowered to the Pre-Carpathian trough in the Pre-Miocene period. Outer and Inner Carpathians is separated by a zone of large deep nasov. In the Inner Carpathians on the territory of Ukraine, the Marmarosh crystalline massif stands out, composed of integuments formed in the Middle Cretaceous time from metamorphic rocks of different ages. The movement of bedspreads for 15-20 km in the direction of the Outer Carpathians is observed. The Inner Carpathians also consist of young magmatic intrusions, limestones and dolomites, lowered in the Late Cretaceous in the form of horse blankets. The largest intra-Carpathian volcanic belt in Europe, which developed during the Miocene-Pleistocene period, runs along the inner edge of the Carpathian arc. Consists of andesites, trachytes, basalts , tuffs. The Inner Carpathians formed the foundation of the Transcarpathian Depression, filled with molasses of Neogene, among which salt dome structures are developed in places. The Transcarpathian trough is separated from the Pannonian Depression by the Pannonian Deep Fault.
