About the album
Earlier, the group has already released one studio album called Throwing Myself , but then the band was called “Luti-Kriss”. The group Luti-Kriss played a hybrid of metalcore and nu-metal , and earlier the group included Josh Swofford (bass guitar) and Mick Bailey (keyboards, programming). After their departure, the group changed its name to “Norma Jean”, radically changing the sound towards the mattress and Christian hardcore . Under the new name, the band recorded two songs - “I Used to Hate Cellphones, but Now I Hate Car Accidents” and “The Shotgun Message”, and released them along with two songs from the American rock band mewithoutYou as a split - Norma Jean / mewithoutYou [ 9] . The recording of the song “Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste” was invited as second vocalist Aaron Weiss from mewithoutYou.
In the limited edition of the album, the song “Pretty Soon, I Am Not Knowing What Is But Going To Happen” contains a sample from the 1998 American psychological thriller “π” , shot by Darren Aronofsky [10] .
The whole album was recorded live with a little overlapping sounds. The booklet says that the album was recorded without using computers.
The inspiration for writing the text of the song “Face: Face” was based on reading chapter 30 of the Book of Proverbs of Solomon [11] .
