Biography

He started skiing at a school in Suoyarvi, continued his studies as a cadet at the Pushkin Military Radio Engineering School of the Air Defense Forces, which he graduated in 1957. In the same year, he took second place in the military school team in the ski patrol 30km. with shooting at the Spartakiad of the Leningrad Military District, and goes into modern winter biathlon (biathlon), speaking in cross-country skiing. In 1960 he became the champion of the Armed Forces of the USSR, he was awarded the title of master of sports of the USSR the first of the biathletes of Leningrad. He is one of the leading biathletes in the country. He played for the team of the Armed Forces and the city of Leningrad . Repeatedly won the championships of the Armed forces of the USSR [1] .

In 1961 and 1965 he won silver medals, in 1964 he won the bronze medal of the USSR Championship in the individual race. In 1966 he became the champion of the USSR as a member of the team of the city of Leningrad at the sports contest of the peoples of the USSR, and a bronze medalist in the relay. In 1963 and 1965, as part of the USSR National Team, he became the champion of the Spartakiad of friendly armies, in 1963 he took second place in the individual race and won a silver medal. In 1966-1967 he was the second coach of the USSR national biathlon team.

The only time he participated in the World Cup in 1965 was in Elverum . In the individual race he took 15th place and became the third among the participants from the USSR, in the unofficial team standings he took second place, along with Nikolai Puzanov and Vladimir Melanyin . I did not take part in the relay race, which was out of the classification, giving way to Valentin Pshenitsyn in the team.

After the end of his sports career from 1972 to 1985, he was a leading lecturer in the Department of Ski Training and Athletics at the Military Institute of Physical Culture, Colonel of the USSR Armed Forces. He participated in the upbringing and development of outstanding racers and biathletes of the USSR and the Russian Federation (N. Bazhukov, A. Alyabyev, V. Drachev ). He was a judge of the All-Union biathlon category, participated in the refereeing of the biathlon world championships and other All-Union and All-Russian competitions.
