The park has been expanded to 16 hectares [ when? ] . In the summer of 1968, the construction of the Palace of Sport began in the Victory Park. The construction of an artificial ice field was headed by the chief engineer of the chemical plant Iosif Mironovich Bolotin. In 1979, the executive committee instructed the architect Taras Grigorievich Botyanovsky to create a park reconstruction project, linking it with one idea to the main square of the city, Victory Square.
Botyanovsky T.G. worked as chief architect in the city of Saratov, Balakovo. In 1974, he came to work in Volgodonsk, where the construction of a nuclear power plant began. In 1977, Botyanovsky was appointed the chief architect of Volgodonsk. In 1980, the reconstruction of the park began. In the spring of 1983, the executive committee approved the candidacies of mothers to the “Walk of maternal glory. The list includes 11 mothers who have raised 5 or more children. The alley was decorated by sculptor V.P. Polyakov designed by architect T.G. Botyanovsky.
April 22, 1985 on the day of the communist Saturday laid the "Garden of Memory". All the trees in this garden were planted by relatives of those who did not return from the war. In total, more than two thousand trees were planted in the park. At the entrance is a slab-stone with the inscription: "In memory of the fallen - be worthy", decorated with a laurel wreath. Next to the "Garden of Memory" is a glade of hero cities, also designed by T.G. Botyanovsky [2] .
On May 9, 1985, on the day of the 40th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War , the reconstructed Victory Park and the eponymous square with a fountain designed by Vasily Polyakov were opened. In the center of the fountain, which has the outlines of a large star, on the pedestal are the steel figures of two victorious warriors, standing on the fragments of the swastika and holding the banner of Victory in their hands. The fountain is located at the intersection of the four alleys of the park:
